How To Build The PERFECT Smoothie

If you’ve ever wondered how to build the perfect smoothie – look no further. This simple guide will give you all the tips you need to create a smoothie that tastes sensationally awesome!

Choose Your Base (2 cups)

First you want to add your liquid base. Water always works, but you can spice it up and add something a little more fun like coconut water, freshly squeezed fruit juice (like orange or pineapple), or nut milks like almond, hemp or coconut (coconut milk is much richer than coconut water).

Choose Your Fruit (3 cups)

You can get pretty creative here. Add whatever fruit you want to your smoothie, and aim for 3 cups worth. Fruit additions are endless, you could add banana, berries, pineapple, mango, papaya, pears, cherries, peaches, figs, durian, oranges – just about any fruit you can think of!

Choose Your Greens (2 cups)

Adding greens to your smoothie is important to help balance energy and alkalize the body. Some of my favourite additions are kale, spinach, romaine, green leaf lettuce, and arugula. You can also add other greens on top of this, like 1/2 cup of cucumber or some celery sticks.

Optional Superfoods

Mix in a little extra boost to your smoothie by adding in things like chia seeds (1 tbsp.), fresh ginger (2-3 inches), hemp protein (1 tbsp.), maca powder (1 tsp.), flaxseeds (1 tbsp.), avocado (1/4 – 1/2), turmeric (1 tsp. powdered or 1-2 inches fresh), spirulina (2 tsp.), honey (1 tsp.), and cinnamon (2 tsp.). The possibilities are endless! Experiment with what you like best!

Here is a handy guide on how to build the perfect smoothie, with ingredients and proportions listed. Happy blending!
