How To Make A Perfect Green Smoothie That Tastes Amazing Too!

Ever wonder how people drink their green smoothies without gagging? Making the perfect green smoothie isn’t that hard – all you need are a few simple tips and tricks and you’ll be well on your way to green-smoothie-ing it up day and night (okay, maybe not that often, but often enough!).

To start, if you haven’t read my article on the 10 health benefits of green smoothies, then I’d suggest reading it. It will inspire and motivate you to actually want to drink your greens in the first place.

So how do you make a delicious green smoothie?

1. Greens
Add 4-6 cups of leafy greens – any greens will do, but my favourites are kale, spinach, arugula, romaine and green leafy lettuce.

2. Fruit
Add 3 cups of fruit – bananas, oranges, berries, peaches, nectarines, mangos, pineapple, you name it! The sky is the limit.

3. Liquid
Add 1 cup of liquid – I typically only use water, coconut water or orange juice as my liquid, but you can use nut milks too (like almond milk or hemp milk), and freshly pressed vegetable juices too!

4. Booster
Add a little bit of flavour boost with extras like maca powder, ginger or turmeric root, cinnamon, herbs, vanilla, hemp seeds or chia seeds! Don’t add a lot – under a tablespoon is more than enough.

Here are the ingredients of my favourite green smoothie recipe. It never fails, and tastes amazing!

Ingredients:

– 4 cups spinach
– 3 ripe bananas
– 1 cup mango
– 2 medjool dates, pitted
– 1 cup young coconut water
– 1 inch fresh ginger root
– 1 tsp. chia seeds

Method:

Place the ingredients in a blender, and blend until smooth. Boom! You’re done. Enjoy!

    Regarding 4 cups of spinach, how tightly compacted is the spinach in a cup?

      Not super tight, just enough that you press down a bit to fill the cup.
