If you want to get rid of inflammation for good, celery juice is the answer.
Research done on celery juice and celery extracts have found that it lowers the activity of tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha), as well as nuclear factor kappa B (NF-kB) and pro-inflammatory cytokines like interleukin 1B (IL-1B) and interleukin 8 (IL-8). These four messaging molecules are involved in the inflammatory response, so keeping them at lower levels is key to help prevent unwanted inflammation.
Polysaccharides in celery have also been linked with a decreased risk of inflammation in the cardiovascular system, and some studies have even suggested celery as being an alternative medicinal treatment for rheumatic disease.
This juice goes beyond celery, however, and includes one of the most powerful anti-inflammatory substances known to man – turmeric! Turmeric has been traditionally used as a remedy for inflammatory conditions like arthritis, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. It has even been equated with that of the popular pharmaceutical anti-inflammatory drugs like Motrin and Ibuprofen.
This juice should be enough to make 1 litre. If not, make sure you use a little more celery to top it off. I recommend finding the biggest bunch of organic celery you can find, and juicing it!
Ingredients:
– 1 large bunch celery
– 2 apples
– 2 inches fresh turmeric root
– 1 lemon, peeled
Method:
Stick all of the above ingredients through a juicer and enjoy immediately!

I was wondering if it would be possible to make this as a smoothie?
Carly Fraser says
Hi Desiree – the fibre would be a little much from the celery, you could blend and then strain in a nut milk bag or cheese cloth!
Jean Kelly says
Could you add water to thin it down if was to thick ?
Carly Fraser says
Yes, you could! But it is a juice, so shouldn't be too thick 🙂

I normally put celery into a fruit mixer (not blender because I drink the pulp together with the juice wherealse blender only extract the juice fron the pulps), mix it with ginger too, lemon sliced with skin (skin unpeeled) carrot for my morning "booster"
