Radish juice is one of the best cures if you suffer from excess mucus production. Mucus is naturally produced in the body to protect mucous membranes, so it isn’t to say that mucus production is necessarily bad – it’s when excess mucus production comes into play.
Excess mucus production is often caused by irritants like food additives, bacteria and viruses, chemicals, pollution, dust, smoke, and food allergens. Excess mucus is produced so that it can capture these particles and shuttle them out of the body – in the form of coughing, stuffy noses, and more.
Radishes are a great way to clear mucus from the body because they help loosen phlegm and clear the sinuses. Not only that, but ginger is another great remedy that helps break up mucoid plaques so that the body can dispose of them easier.
You can use any type of radish – black, red, or even daikon (Chinese radish).

How many radishes do you suggest eating each day to reduce mucus? I have adult onset asthma and have been removing mucus producing foods from my diet and replacing with mucus reducing foods.
Carly Fraser says
I would say 1-2 cups of radishes. If you're battling lots of mucus, reduce consumption (or totally eliminate) wheat, eggs, dairy, soy, fried foods, and heated oils.
