Celery is one of the most healing foods known to man, and when you drink it in the form of a juice, you get much more celery in your body than you would when just eating it (I mean, who can eat a whole bunch of celery? I’ve done it, but it’s tough!).
Celery juice is highly anti-inflammatory, and so it is beneficial for people who suffer from autoimmune conditions like Fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, migraines, vertigo, irritable bowel syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, eczema, acne, lupus, and gout (1).
Celery is a natural diuretic as well, allowing it to quickly flush out toxins from the body. This diuretic effect also flushes excess sodium from the body, which significantly helps lower blood pressure. Celery also contains a phytochemical called phthalides, which relaxes the tissues of the artery walls to increase blood flow and reduce blood pressure (2).
Phthalides in celery juice also help lower LDL (“bad”) cholesterol by increasing bile acid secretion in the liver. More bile acids produce higher bile flow, promoting digestion and absorption of dietary fat and cholesterol.
It is rich in organic salts, which provide the body with natural sodium (note: not the same as sodium we get from salt shakers) that has the ability to dislodge calcium deposits from the joints and hold them in solution until effectively eliminated by the kidneys.
Make sure you choose organic celery whenever possible, as it is one of the foods, which when bought conventionally, is sprayed with many different pesticides. Drinking this full celery juice (it will make around 16-20 ounces), can completely transform your health and digestion in as little as one week, if drank every day.
