This strawberry pineapple smoothie recipe is not only incredibly tasty, but helps soothe digestion and ease aches and pains caused by inflammation.
I like to use this smoothie when I am experiencing any kind of pain in my body (mainly because I tend to push myself a little too hard sometimes in yoga and dance), or if I feel like nourishing my digestive tract.
Strawberries and ginger are both beneficial for the digestive tract. Strawberries contain salicylic acid, a naturally occurring anti-inflammatory substance that reduces inflammation in the digestive tract and helps those suffering from IBS or Chron’s. Ginger stimulates our digestive juices and eases bloating, cramps, diarrhea and constipation.
Along with the anti-inflammatory effects that strawberries have on our digestive tract, they also help reduce pain throughout the body. Similarly, pineapples do this too, thanks to their inflammation-busting enzyme called bromelain, which works wonders for those suffering from debilitating conditions like arthritis or gout.
