Radish juice is one of the best cures if you suffer from excess mucus production. Mucus is naturally produced in the body to protect mucous membranes, so it isn’t to say that mucus production is necessarily bad – it’s when excess mucus production comes into play.

Excess mucus production is often caused by irritants like food additives, bacteria and viruses, chemicals, pollution, dust, smoke, and food allergens. Excess mucus is produced so that it can capture these particles and shuttle them out of the body – in the form of coughing, stuffy noses, and more.

Radishes are a great way to clear mucus from the body because they help loosen phlegm and clear the sinuses.  Not only that, but ginger is another great remedy that helps break up mucoid plaques so that the body can dispose of them easier.

You can use any type of radish – black, red, or even daikon (Chinese radish).

Radish Juice to Elimiate Mucus: Recipe

Ingredients:

– 2 cups radish
– 4 sticks celery
– 1 inch fresh ginger root
– 1/2 lemon, peeled

Method:

Run all of the above ingredients through a juicer and enjoy immediately!

    Hi Ms. Fraser;
I have been reading this column and I appreciate the insight and knowledge that you have shared with us. I live in the country of Belize and Raddish is not a common vegetable. Is there another super mucus reducer that I can give my kids. Both have asthma and now my daughter who is also visually impaired suppers from constant mucus production. She took Augmentin and had to be taken off because it was too strong.

    Regards
    Jacqueline

      Hey Jacqueline,

Have you tried eliminating mucus-causing foods? Check out my article below. As for a radish replacement, daikon root is another good one – do you have that in your area?

I have heard low fat milk and radishes juicing together is good for wrinkles. My question is Is it ok to juice radishes and milk together?

I don't condone the consumption of dairy products, and I don't think you can juice milk as it is already liquid.

Thanks Carly Fraser for sharing this knowledge.
Radish is not easily available in my country. Is Beetroot can be a replacement of Radish to reduce mucus?

No, beetroot and radish are very different. Do you have daikon root? Daikon and radish are similar. Mustard greens are also good for mucus.

Of course! White radish is fine – on an empty stomach would be best.
