If you’re suffering from a chronic sinus infection, or any sinus infection for that matter, your sinuses are inflamed. This can lead to headaches, fevers, facial pain, or sensitive eyes (aka. can’t handle bright light).
Fortunately, this apple cider vinegar detox tonic is effective at cleaning the sinuses and killing the bacteria and viruses responsible for causing the problem in the first place.
Apple cider vinegar (ACV) contains vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and malic acid, which are all beneficial in killing bacteria, viruses and fungal infections. It is highly anti-inflammatory, and helps break up mucus to clear clogged up airways.
ACV cleanses the lymphatic system, helps balance pH levels once metabolized by the body, and can dramatically improve skin quality, thanks to the high levels of active enzymes and antioxidants, which promote blood circulation in the small capillaries, which inundate the skin.
When looking for apple cider vinegar, make sure that it is raw, unpasteurized, and still contains “the mother” – that way, you know your ACV is living and still contains the beneficial active compounds for fighting infection.
Another ingredient in this apple cider vinegar detox tonic is cayenne pepper. Cayenne pepper contains the active ingredient capsaicin, which has long been used as a painkiller and for reducing nasal congestion. Capsaicin helps to dilate blood capillaries, and helps to break down mucus for drainage. It also helps reduce inflammation.
Apple Cider Vinegar Detox Tonic Recipe
Ingredients (serves 1):
– 3/4 cup warm water (not hot)
– 2 tbsp. raw, unpasteurized apple cider vinegar (with “the mother”)
– 1 tbsp. maple syrup or raw honey (manuka honey is best)
– 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
– 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
– 1 tbsp. lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
Method:
1. Mix all of the above ingredients in a glass, and stir well until everything is well dissolved.
2. Sip the mixture until your condition subsides. It might not work overnight, as every body is different, so give it a couple days to work its magic.

Wow! My lips, throat, and stomach are burning after this concoction. But from just drinking it my sinuses are kind of loose.

Yup, it’s an intense drink!

How many times a day should you do this. Morning and night?
Carly Fraser says
Depending on how bad your sinus infection is, I’d do it 1-2 times a day.

Carly Fraser says
You could just skip the cayenne.

Is this t
treatment good for people suffering from heartburn and colon disorders?
thanks
Carly Fraser says
This is more better for congestion and sinus related issues.

do you think this can help with bad breath? I think my sinuses have built up from a long time and feel it strong odor at points during the day.
Any advice, or another concoction recipe?
Thanks
Carly Fraser says
Bad breath is usually due to ketosis. Try reducing your consumption of wheat and dairy, and that should help you out. Fennel and parsley are also good deodorizers of the body.

Can I use ordinary honey as I cannot get raw or manuka? Many thanks. And is it possible to use bottled lemon juice till I get lemons? I am asking as I have these two things along with the other necessary ingredients. Many thanks.
Carly Fraser says
Always look for unpasteurized honey, otherwise, all you’re really adding is just refined honey which is like eating pure refined sugar. No benefits at all. Also, fresh lemons are a much better option – bottled lemon eats away at the plastic on the inside and really isn’t great for consumption at all. You are definitely free to do as you please, but this is just my 2 cents 🙂

Thank you for this recipe, I am going to give it a try. At times, my sinuses bother me and I would love to find a healthy solution for treatment vs antibiotics and steroids. If I cannot find the honey, what kind of maple syrup do you recommend? Is the syrup as effective as the honey?
Carly Fraser says
Honey has more antibacterial properties so I’d try to find raw unpasteurized honey if you can.
