Creamy green flax smoothie in a clear glass, smooth vibrant light green color with subtle creaminess, topped with a light sprinkle of ground flaxseed. Surrounded by fresh ingredients: leafy greens (kale and spinach), ripe bananas, medjool dates, small bowl of ground flaxseed, cinnamon stick or powder, and a glass of coconut water.

Your digestive system plays a huge role in how you feel each day, and when things slow down, it can leave you feeling heavy, bloated, and off.

As we consume a large variety of acidic foods, our colon becomes a storehouse of putrified waste matter. Many studies claim that over half of the diseases are associated with our digestive health – and that’s no wonder. If our digestive tract isn’t working properly, toxins that are normally supposed to be eliminated, stay stuck in the micro-fine villi that line the intestine and become re-absorbed into our blood stream (ultimately making us sick and chronically ill).

Poor colon health also results in gas, indigestion, acidity and stomach distress. It can also result in people not eliminating more than once per day, when we should be aiming for three bowel movements daily.

After cleansing your colon with the proper foods and replacing foods with healthier ones, you’ll notice a dramatic difference in your day-to-day life. You’ll experience improved energy levels, better digestive health, and clearer skin.

Coconut water kefir is great for improving digestive health and restoring the good flora in our intestinal tract. Ground flaxseeds are also a miracle for promoting frequent bowel movements and absorbing toxins on the way out. The greens in this smoothie take it up a notch to help alkalinize the body and sweep the intestines clean. Bad bacteria, parasites and viruses hate the alkalinity of greens, and will be promptly eliminated once they encounter the green power that is leafy greens!

Green Flax Smoothie Recipe

Drink this smoothie once a day for 2-3 weeks for a full colon cleanse.

Ingredients: (serves 1)

– 2 cups packed leafy greens like kale or spinach
– 4 ripe bananas
– 2 tbsp. ground flaxseed
– 1/2 cup coconut water kefir or 1 capsule probiotic
– 2 medjool dates, pitted
– 1 tsp. cinnamon
– 1 cup coconut water or regular filtered water

Method:

Stick all of the above ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.

    Are you suppose to just eat like you normally do plus drink this everyday. Also when is the best time to drink this?

      I would avoid animal products (meat, eggs, dairy) too, as well as wheat. Drink in the morning or afternoon

    banana gives me terrible heartburn, let alone 4 of them all at once. I also have candida, Barrett's esophagus and diabetes. I can't do dairy, grains, or starchy foods/carbohydrates. The only fruit I can eat is apple, pear, and berries. One a day. Is there a drink that would be safe for me to drink that would give me the same benefit? Thank You.
