A Complete List of Monsanto-Created Food Products You Should Avoid At All Costs

Conceptual editorial illustration about industrial food production and corporate agriculture influence. Foreground: assortment of generic, unbranded processed foods (corn-based snacks, boxed cereals, soy products, seed oils, packaged baked goods) with no logos or recognizable brand names, neutral packaging only. Background: dark, moody agricultural setting with rows of industrial corn or soy fields fading into shadow, subtle sense of scale and control.

You’d be surprised the number of food products you purchase that are created with ingredients produced by Monsanto. Many people think they are health foods, when in reality, they contain genetically modified ingredients that are toxic to our body.

Many of the ingredients in packaged foods are derived from genetically modified organisms. They are often hidden in the ingredients, labelled as things you’d think were harmless.

Ingredients like starch (in any form), high fructose corn syrup (HFCS), dextrin, maltodextrin, dextrose, malt (in any form), hydrolyzed vegetable protein, baking powder, caramel colour, sugar, aspartame, nutrasweet, phenylalanine, equal, confectioners sugar, fructose (in any form), glucose, condensed milk, milk powder, soy, cottonseed oil, xanthan gum, corn (in any form) and more, usually indicate the presence of hidden GMOs, unless the product is certified organic or Non-GMO project verified.

There are many concerns regarding our health and the environment that we should take note of, so that we can stop supporting the use of GMO products. Genetically modified food has the ability to generate new plant pathogens, supports the movement of herbicide resistant genes to other plants, has detrimental consequences for plant biodiversity and wildlife, and can eradicate populations of beneficial insects (such as honey bees). Growing GMO crops also discourages the important practice of crop rotation, which is proven to keep soil healthy and nutritious.

The potential health risks of GMOs include birth defects, transfer of genetically modified DNA into the human body, triggering gluten-related disorders like Celiac Disease, development of cancer, a direct link to the development of Autism, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s Disease, gastrointestinal problems, and more. GMO’s are not completely safe for consumption – we do not know enough about them yet to make any definitive statements. Look after your health, and always opt for locally grown, and organic (or just grow it yourself!).

Monsanto-Created Food Products

There are many GMO-free companies out there too, so be sure to check those out, and support them whenever you can.

Here is a list of companies that you should absolutely avoid if you don’t want to eat Monsanto-created food products:

Sounds like an anti-Monsanto thing rather than a purely health related thing. There are other companies who do the same thing, but I don't see them listed. And it's entirely possible that some of the products put out by companies owned by Monsanto are perfectly safe and relatively healthy.

Instead of just going after Monsanto, maybe it would be best to go product by product, inclusive of all manufacturers, to be more accurate.

I personally wouldn't trust anything from companies owned by monsanto. Just my opinion. But I see what you're saying.

Considering a lot of organic companies have sold out to big conglomerates that have no problem using glyphosate, it truly makes you wonder if you are actually getting organic or is it just a great reason to inflate prices. And given that most of these companies fought hard to keep people from knowing what is in their food, it gives me pause when I buy organic. It’s very disappointing.

I know. Really, the only thing you can do is grow your own to ensure it’s organic. Even then, you have neighbours spraying their own stuff on their lawns, so can you ever really achieve organic? Perhaps a greenhouse? Or moving to a place where you have no neighbours around you.

Can you give us links that reference these ownerships – for example, I couldn't easily verify the owners of Coca Cola….

That would be a lot of references to give for each individual company. I suggest googling each company and then writing monsanto next to the name like "coca-cola monsanto ownership" or something along those lines. Monsanto sold saccharin (their first chemical creation) to coca-cola way back, as an artificial sweetener.

I've not knowingly bought Nestle products for several years primarily due to their "water-owning"
goals- and I am presuming they would not be averse to including GMO ingredients in their brands, most of which bear names other than Nestle. They've bought so many companies that earned good reputations, then kept the respected names and then changed the quality or substance of the ingredients. I hope you will be addressing this issue soon. Thank you for doing such a good job of education on the Monsanto issue.

Nestlé is a whoooole other ball game and so much could be said about that destructive company. I do plan on writing about them, but I'm a one-person feat here! 😉

I think that you always give enough information to make informed decisions, in addition to us doing our due diligence in doing our own research! We're so used to having stuff spoon fed to us….it's unfortunate!

Hey Wanda, thanks for leaving a comment. Yes, I try my best to answer all the comments I get on articles, but I am only one person over here, and there is SO much information out there. I often reference people to google, or other articles that maybe cover more in depth a section of an article I write that I haven't gone into great detail in. 🙂

    Hi Carly,
Can you please give me a list of foods that I can be assured are healthy to feed to my family? Since I don’t grow my own foods, I truly need some help in knowing the names of healthy food companies I can trust?
    Thank you.

Hey Lisa – anything organic would be on the safe list. Also non-GMO verified means that there are no GMO’s, but it doesn’t mean that it is pesticide-free. Only organic will be pesticide/herbicide-free.
