This Chocolate Mint Smoothie Is Just What You Need To Soothe Your Stomach (Gas, Bloating, IBS, Cramps)

I’ve always loved the combination of chocolate and mint, so this chocolate mint smoothie was a big hit for me when I first made it. It tastes similar to a peppermint patty – maybe not as intense, but just as delicious.

Mint possesses more health benefits than you could ever imagine. It can help prevent cancer, clears up congestion of the nose, throat and lungs, improves oral health and can provide you with higher memory retention and alertness.

However, the best property of mint is how it affects our digestive tract. The menthol and methyl salicylate in mint can sooth stomach spasms, helping to settle the gastrointestinal tract and get rid of issues like gas, bloating, irritable bowel syndrome and cramps (1).

The awesome thing about this chocolate mint smoothie is that it is like drinking a healthy dessert. Plus, you can drink it in the morning for breakfast. That’s right. Breakfast morning dessert that’s good for you. Say what?

Chocolate Mint Smoothie Recipe

Ingredients: (serves 1)

– 1 cup packed spinach leaves
– 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves
– 2 ripe bananas
– 2 medjool dates
– 1 cup water
– 1/2 tsp. vanilla
– 2 tbsp. cocoa, cacao, or carob powder

Method:

Run all of the above ingredients through a blender and enjoy!

Oops! That is a typo. I just changed it. You can use 1 cup of water or other plant-based liquid of your choice like almond or coconut milk!
