This tropi-kale green smoothie is an incredible one. It’s especially helpful for combatting inflammation in the body and works as a powerful anti-cancer combo.
Let’s first start with kale – it’s a great detoxifier, containing compounds like glucosinolates, which form isothiocyanates (ITCs), which help regulate the detoxification process that occurs in our cells every day. It also contains omega-3 fatty acids – who knew?! Omega-3 fatty acids help fight inflammation and cardiovascular disease. How cool is that?
Pineapple is another winner on the ingredient list. It contains the anti-inflammatory compound called bromelain, which is an enzyme in pineapple that digests protein and exhibits “selective cytotoxicity,” which means that it has the ability to shrink or kill cancer cells, while leaving healthy cells alone! It is also a powerful anti-inflammatory and has been found to reduce inflammation in arthritis, sinusitis, inflammatory bowel disease, sports injuries, burns, prostatitis, and swelling and bruising after surgery!
Tropi-Kale Smoothie Recipe
Ingredients (Serves 2):
– 1 cup fresh spinach
– 1 cup fresh kale
– 2 cups coconut water, unsweetened
– 1 banana
– 2 cups pineapple
TIP: Use at least one frozen fruit to make the smoothie cold
1. Blend spinach, kale, and coconut water together until smooth.
2. Add remaining ingredients and blend again
