Migraine Relief Green Smoothie
Next time you reach for tylenol as the answer to your migraine, think again. Your body is speaking to you. It wants you to do something different, but instead, you’re giving it something to cover up the effects of an underlying problem.

Headaches and migraines are often a result of poor diet, lack of adequate nutrition and thus vitamin and mineral deficiencies. They can also stem from poor posture, emotional tension, and exposure to environmental toxins.

This migraine relief green smoothie will help infuse your body with beneficial minerals like calcium and magnesium (plus, it tastes amazing!!). People with migraines usually have lower levels of magnesium than those who don’t experience them. In fact, one study found that people who took magnesium reduced their migraine frequencies by up to 41.6% (compared to only 15% of people who took a placebo).

Abnormal serotonin function in blood vessels may also be related to migraines, so that is why I included bananas in this recipe, because they contain the tryptophans necessary to convert into serotonin in the brain (and thus reduce migraine frequency).

Green smoothies and juices are two things I’ve included in my diet for the last five years – along with yoga, exercise, plenty of water and a 95% raw diet – and this has completely eliminated my need to use over-the-counter drugs to eliminate pain, headaches and migraines.

Treat your body with the respect it deserves, and you’ll gain more health than you could ever imagine!

Migraine Relief Green Smoothie Recipe

Ingredients:

– 4 kale leaves, de-stemmed
– 1 cup spinach
– 3 ripe, spotty bananas
– 2 pitted medjool dates
– 2 stalks celery (about 1 cup)
– 1 cup cucumber
– 1 inch fresh ginger root
– 1/2 tsp. vanilla bean powder
– 1 cup coconut water
– Optional: 1/4 cup soaked raw almonds (soak overnight for 8 hours or more)

Method:

Place all of the above ingredients in a blender, and blend for 30 seconds until smooth. Enjoy!

I suffer from chronic migraine and would love to try out your smoothie, but I'm allergic to bananas! What would the best alternative for this particular recipe be?
