Lemon-Ginger Liver Detox Juice

Did you know that your body stores toxins in fat cells? It’s true!

In the 1980s, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) conducted a program called the National Human Adipose Tissue Survey (NHATS). The discovered that all human fat samples contained traces of four industrial solvents, and one dioxin. In more than 90% of the fat samples, nine more chemicals were found, including three dioxins and one furan.

In order to prevent these toxins from roaming freely and damaging your organs, the body stores these toxins away in fat cells. These fat-soluble toxins must be converted by the liver to become water soluble so they can be flushed out of the body via the blood and kidneys.

This lemon-ginger liver detox juice will help quicken the process by supporting your body’s natural detoxification system, to get rid of bad bacteria, heavy metals and toxins.

Carrots and beets are full of carotenoids that improve liver health by stimulating bile flow to help your liver “take out the trash”. Beets also contain compounds that fight fat deposits in the liver, lower blood pressure, and promote blood flow.

Kale is another great ingredient that cleanses the liver. It contains high levels of plant chlorophylls, which help suck up environmental toxins from the bloodstream before they enter the fat cells. Ginger is highly anti-inflammatory, and protects the digestive tract and stimulates healthy bowel movements.

Apples contain pectin, and malic acid, which dissolves gallstones and liver stones. They also help stimulate bile flow. Lemons are great for sucking out toxins from fat cells, too, thanks to their toxin-fighting citrate and tonifying properties.

For this liver detox juice, make sure you stick to organic ingredients when possible. Drink it once a day for a couple weeks to help cleanse and detox the body.

Hmm, I'm not sure what else you could substitute. Maybe look into other recipes on my site you might be able to use. Can you eat lemons and ginger? Lemon ginger and carrots are a good alternative.

How often should one drink the liver detox drink? Once a day? Once a week? 2x a week? Every other day?

Thank you. I’ve been looking for a good recipe for awhile. This looks like it should do.

If you can drink it every day and have the resources to do so, I’d say do it! If not, then once a week or a few times a week is great 🙂

I’m not sure about ginger – I’d check with your doctor.
