Healing Ginger Tea

A warming ginger tea recipe to nourish and repair cellular systems of the body.

Ingredients

  • 1 inch fresh ginger root (or 1 tsp. ginger powder)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp. freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 tsp. sweetener of choice (honey, maple syrup, etc.)

Method

  1. Slice your ginger into thin pieces. You don't need to take off the outer skin, but be sure to scrub off any visible dirt or black spots. You'll be aiming anywhere from 1-2 inches of fresh ginger root per cup of tea.
  2. Combine this amount of ginger with 1-2 cups of water in a saucepan (depending on if you have a giant mug or small mug - I use a big mug so I usually do 2 cups).
  3. Bring to a boil and then reduce the heat to a simmer.
  4. Simmer here for about 7-10 minutes. I usually like to simmer a bit longer to really get all the actives out of the ginger, but if you prefer a lighter brew, you can simmer for a shorter amount of time.
  5. Pour the tea through a fine sieve into a cup to catch the ginger. Add lemon, cinnamon, and sweetener of choice (honey, maple syrup, etc.). Enjoy!
